The London Cider Salon

The London Cider Salon is back! Sample some of the finest ciders and perries, meet the makers and follow some fascinating talks

Mid summer will have settled in, the day as long as any, as the sun beats down on the orchards nurturing this year's apples & pears, and many of the world's best cider & perry makers gather in London, to show you their latest & greatest bottles!

The London Cider Salon returns to Tate for a third year, providing an intimate opportunity to taste a vast array of the finest ciders and perries accompanied by a series of talks, cheese tasting (this year we are delighted to welcome Neal's Yard Dairy to join in the festivities), and a dinner and after-party!

This is not mass market cider, which often uses water and apple concentrate, this is the drink Laurie Lee called the 'wine of wild orchards', and diarist John Evelyn titled 'the native wine of England'. From traditional classic styles to innovative blends and co-ferments, to the same method used to make Champagne, and dessert wine like Ice Cider, made up near the arctic in Scandinavia - this is not cider as you know it from the supermarket...

But this is also a chance to celebrate orchards, the biodiversity and environmental positives they can provide. A series of talks will accompany the London Cider Salon, covering this topic. Continue your night at The Corner with a Salon special menu of West Country Cuisine, music and Cider Makers Masterclasses.

Your ticket includes entry to a series of talks held from 10.00-12.00 in the East Room, Natalie Bell Building, Level 6

  • The talks will focus on the environmental and biodiversity benefits and considerations of traditional orchards, and the ciders they produce. They will ask what role fine cider can play in combating climate change, and how best to go about this as an emerging industry. If you'd like to read a littlemore on this subject, read this article.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner Street.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
