CAMP From Gulf to Gulf to Gulf 2009-2013, video still

CAMP (Shaina Anand, Ashok Sukumaran), 'From Gulf to Gulf to Gulf', 2013, Collection Sharjah Art Foundation and Tate. Purchased with funds provided by the South Asia Acquistions Committee 2016 © CAMP

Explore the shared histories, exchanges and interconnections across cities in the UAE, South Asia and beyond

During this full day symposium, the rapid growth of the city and its impact on artistic practice will be looked at through the work of artists, architects, photographers, filmmakers and scholars whose research encompasses urban development from the 20th century to the present.

Participants will share perspectives on cities and the representation of urban space, particularly in the visual arts, and how these contribute to and reflect on the complex and on-going making of place and identity.

Organised by Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational and Alserkal Arts Foundation in collaboration with Ishara Art Foundation.
