Net Art Commissions, 2000–2011: Artwork Texts

Between 2000 and 2011, Tate commissioned fifteen works of net art for its website. Each of the texts below, written by an interdisciplinary team of researchers, focuses on one of these works. Drawing on interviews with artists and technical research, they describe the experience of interacting with the artworks, their reception and technical narrative, both at the time of their launch and in their condition at the time of writing. By addressing each work in turn, the authors investigate the conservation risks and possibilities of a formative group of net artworks.
