A day of inspiration and advice about creative industry careers

We’ve collaborated with Creative Access for a day of inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, and one-to-one mentoring from industry pros.

Get top tips from creative professionals, have your CV or portfolio looked at by experts, level up your networking game and loads more.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take the next step in your career in the creative industries, this event is for you!

Creative Access is a social enterprise dedicated to opening up access and providing career-long support for individuals from historically under-represented groups in the creative industries. They work with over 1,000 employers across film, TV, theatre, museums and galleries, PR, advertising, publishing, and beyond on recruitment, mentoring and training.

Tate Britain's step-free entrance is on Atterbury Street. It has automatic sliding doors and there is a ramp down to the entrance with central handrails.

  • Accessible, standard and Changing Places toilets are located on the Lower floor.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the ticket desk on the Lower floor.

Making Waves In The Art World

A powerhouse panel of visionaries from the creative and cultural sectors share their career stories and advice for the next generation. Hear from enterprising culture and heritage leader Lisa Anderson, visual artist, performer and actor Heather Agyepong and curator, photographer and filmmaker Ronan McKenzie. Chaired by Rachel Noël, Head of Learning Programmes and Partnerships at Tate.

Money Talks: How to pay the bills as a creative

Hear how a panel of established creatives manage to balance their passions with paying the bills. Tayo Adesina, Adwoa Owusu-Darko and Ajay Pabial share their creative and financial journeys. Facilitated by cultural producer, engagement specialist and creative coach April Brown, who is committed to helping diverse talent flourish. Programmed in collaboration with Creative Shift from University of the Arts London.

April Brown

April Brown (she/her) has 15 years of experience in the creative and social impact sectors. She works as a coach, consultant and producer to help underrepresented creatives and socially-minded organisations flourish. April has worked with organisations including Tate, Somerset House, Creative Access, A New Direction, LIFT and Good Growth Hub. April is a fellow of The School for Social Entrepreneurs, an alumna of the UpRising Leadership Programme and the Clore Emerging Leaders Programme.

Tayo Adesina

Tayo Adesina (he/him) is the founder of the grassroots social-mobility social enterprise, Trash Gxng. He's focused on breaking social isolation barriers for 16- to 25-year-olds, especially those in lower socio-economic groups. Tayo has managed to balance a full-time career while launching a purposeful business and is now a full-time entrepreneur.

Adwoa Owusu-Darko

Adwoa Owusu-Darko is the owner and founder of Mini’s World, a Black-owned sustainable fashion brand. Adwoa started her first business whilst studying PPE at University when she became aware of the impact sustainable fashion has on the world and wanted to be a part of the change. Mini's World encompasses sustainability, creative imagination and positive impact, and focuses on inspiring others through authenticity, education and a love for fashion.

Ajay Pabial

Ajay Pabial (he/him) is a social entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Art Clubbers CIC, an arts organization championing inclusivity and equity. Committed to uplifting marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+, BAME, and working-class individuals, Ajay has designed and delivered impactful programs that amplify underrepresented voices in the arts. He continues to drive systemic change by empowering communities and advocating for greater equity in arts and culture.

Creative Shift from University of the Arts London

Creative Shift from University of the Arts London deliver a programme of opportunities, working closely with industry partners to enhance students’ experience and professional development. They focus on working with students from underrepresented backgrounds, providing experiential opportunities to support their creative journeys. Creative Shift enhance the student experience through community building and by valuing students’ lived experiences. They co-create projects between students, staff and industry; we also offer practical know-how, tools and access to peer and professional networks.

How to DJ Workshop with Goldie Quaker and Vanessa Maria

A practical introduction to DJing with hosts Goldie Quaker and Vanessa. In small groups each with your own CDJs, learn the essentials of beat and key matching.
