To celebrate the 25th birthday of Tate Modern, join this creative workshop inspired by Louise Bourgeois’ Maman

Working with artist Alice Davies, you will learn about Louise Bourgeois’ practice and the creation of the Maman sculpture which has returned to Tate Modern after 25 years.

This workshop will encourage you to sketch and draw within the galleries before returning to the studio to produce a range of work from small sculptures to watercolours and drawings around the themes important to Bourgeois.

10.30–11.00 Welcome and Powerpoint presentation introducing Louise Bourgeois her life and work and the story of Maman and its history at Tate Modern.

11.00–11.50am Into the galleries to see Maman and work from life on sketches and responses to the sculpture and any other works by Bourgeois.

11.50–12.10 Refreshment break – return to studio

12.10–13.10 Studio work using gallery-made sketches to create Maman inspired art works.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.
