Join innovative artist Liliane Lijn for a unique talk about her creative career from 1959 to today

Liliane Lijn is known for her use of language and movement to explore the boundaries between art, science, technology and myth. Her practice spans a diverse range of media: from her early research into the relationship between light and matter to her ongoing creation of new feminine forms.

Liliane Lijn will be joined this evening in conversation by Valentina Ravaglia, Curator, Displays and International Art at Tate Modern and curator of the Electric Dreams: Art and Technology Before the Internet exhibition currently on at Tate Modern.

Liliane Lijn is an artist and writer, exhibiting internationally since the 1960s. Born in New York, Lijn subsequently lived in Lugano, Paris, New York and Athens before finally settling in London in 1967. Lijn is inspired by science, mythology, and eastern philosophies, combining industrial materials with artistic processes to reimagine the female body. Her work is held in important public collections, including Tate, V&A, British Museum, and FNAC in Paris.

The upcoming exhibition Liliane Lijn: Arise Alive is jointly organized with Haus der Kunst München, in collaboration with Tate St Ives. In conjunction with the exhibition, a comprehensive monograph on Lijn’s work will be co-published, whilst her memoir titled Liquid Reflections has recently been published by Penguin.
