Henri Matisse, The Snail 1953. Tate.

Design, dress up, and dazzle in a snail-inspired fashion show!

Get ready to meet Dash – a larger-than-life, colourful snail sculpture inspired by Henri Matisse’s iconic collage The Snail (L’escargot)! Dash will greet visitors to Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall this Easter as part of a giant snail-themed catwalk created by artist Bruce Asbestos.

Join the fashion parade during the Easter break and make your very own outfit using paper, paint, and card. Then, take centre stage and show off your amazing, weird and wonderful designs on the runway — set to a special soundtrack by British grime artist Snowy.

Your creations will become part of a growing wardrobe of wearable art, ready for other visitors to remix and reimagine.

In the last week of the event, on April 17, everyone is invited to join Bruce, models, videographers, and photographers for a spectacular runway event, the wildest snail-inspired looks will take the spotlight in a vibrant, high-energy celebration of creativity!

UNIQLO Tate Play: Bruce Asbestos, S/S 2025 is in partnership with UNIQLO.

With additional support from Megaflatables for the supply of equipment.

This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends and carers. Those who are looking for a playful-yet-still-relaxing hour to start the day can visit the space – just with smaller groups so we can support any additional needs you might have.

Resources will be available on the day including:

  • Access Station
  • Ear defenders
  • A quiet breakout space
  • Fewer people in the space and smaller groups

Tate staff will be aware that this is an access hour and will take that into consideration as they look after you and the artwork.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.

To help plan your visit to Tate Modern, have a look at our visual story. It includes photographs and information about what you can expect from a visit to the gallery.
