Audio Description Tour The 80s: Photographing Britain

24 March 2025 at 17.00–18.30

Blind and partially sighted visitors are invited to join Audio Describer Sara Dibb for a tour of The 80s: Photographing Britain

Join us as we visit the exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain. We will describe photographs from some of the key cultural, political and social moments of the 1980s. Our Guide, Sara, will describe powerful images that gave voice and visibility to underrepresented groups in society during a decade of social and political change.

The tour will be supported by audio receivers and earphones. After the tour the exhibition will remain open for you to revisit some of the rooms we will have been through.

Folding stools and earphones will be provided at this event.

Tate Britain's step-free entrance is on Atterbury Street. It has automatic sliding doors and there is a ramp down to the entrance with central handrails.

There is a lift between the Lower and Main floors. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Accessible, standard and Changing Places toilets are located on the Lower floor.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the ticket desk on the Lower floor.

To help plan your visit to Tate Britain, have a look at our visual story. It includes photographs and information about what you can expect from a visit to the gallery.
