Anna Farley: Your Space

An experimental environment for rest and learning created by artist Anna Farley

Farley is an autistic artist whose work explores her autism, UK disability culture and inclusion. She subverts the traditional culture of galleries and museums, while acknowledging their dedication to caring for art objects. Farley applies these same principles to prioritise the comfort of the public. Her work imagines new possibilities for what public art spaces could or should be, creating pieces that provide for others.

For Your Space, Farley has taken inspiration from artist Barbara Hepworth’s Palais de Danse in St Ives. A former cinema and dance hall, the Palais de Danse was bought by Hepworth in 1961 as her second studio. Recently given to Tate by the artist's family, it is now re-imagined as a space to showcase and build on Hepworth's artistic legacy.

All visitors to Your Space are invited to contribute to this experiment which will evolve over time. Rest, read, draw, find your comfort.
